Dosing & Administration

Mounjaro 2.5mg is an injectable medication. It is typically administered once weekly, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without meals. This is often a starting dose, and your healthcare provider may adjust it over time based on your response and tolerability. Always follow your provider's specific dosing instructions.

What It Is

Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) 2.5mg is a prescription medication designed to assist adults with chronic weight management. It is part of a class of drugs known as GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonists. This medication is used in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

Stealth Health provides access to Mounjaro 2.5mg as part of a comprehensive weight management program, following a thorough consultation with a licensed healthcare provider.

How It Works

Tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Mounjaro, works by activating two natural hormone receptors in the body: glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). These hormones play a role in regulating blood sugar and appetite.

By mimicking these hormones, Tirzepatide can help to reduce food intake by decreasing appetite and slowing down the emptying of the stomach. This can lead to a feeling of fullness for longer periods, supporting weight loss efforts.

Benefits

Patients using Mounjaro 2.5mg as part of a structured weight management program may experience significant weight loss. This medication can help individuals achieve and maintain a healthier weight.

Beyond weight reduction, some individuals may also see improvements in certain metabolic markers. These benefits are typically realized when Mounjaro is combined with consistent lifestyle changes, including diet and exercise.

Important Safety Information

Serious Warnings & Precautions

Mounjaro may cause thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC). It is not known if Mounjaro causes MTC in humans. Pancreatitis has been reported in clinical trials; discontinue Mounjaro promptly if pancreatitis is suspected. Gallbladder problems, including gallstones, may occur. Acute kidney injury and severe gastrointestinal disease, including gastroparesis, are potential risks. Monitor for symptoms of hypoglycemia, especially in patients with type 2 diabetes also taking insulin or sulfonylureas. Diabetic retinopathy complications have been observed in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Contraindications

Do not use Mounjaro if you or any of your family members have ever had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of a serious hypersensitivity reaction to Tirzepatide or any of the product components. Individuals with a history of pancreatitis or severe gastrointestinal disease should discuss these conditions with their healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects

The most common side effects of Mounjaro include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, and abdominal pain. These side effects are often mild to moderate and tend to decrease over time as your body adjusts to the medication. If side effects persist or worsen, contact your healthcare provider.

Drug Interactions

Mounjaro slows gastric emptying, which may affect the absorption of orally administered medications. Use caution when co-administering Mounjaro with oral medications that have a narrow therapeutic index. Oral contraceptives may be less effective; consider alternative contraception or adding a barrier method for a period after starting Mounjaro or after dose escalation.

Important Safety Information

Before starting Mounjaro, inform your healthcare provider about all your medical conditions, including if you have a history of pancreatitis, kidney problems, severe stomach problems, or diabetic retinopathy. Tell your provider about all medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Do not share your Mounjaro pen with others, even if the needle is changed, as this carries a risk of infection. Mounjaro is not recommended for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
