Mounjaro may cause thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC). It is not known if Mounjaro causes MTC in humans. Pancreatitis has been reported in clinical trials; discontinue Mounjaro promptly if pancreatitis is suspected. Gallbladder problems, including gallstones, may occur. Acute kidney injury and severe gastrointestinal disease, including gastroparesis, are potential risks. Monitor for symptoms of hypoglycemia, especially in patients with type 2 diabetes also taking insulin or sulfonylureas. Diabetic retinopathy complications have been observed in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Contraindications
Do not use Mounjaro if you or any of your family members have ever had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of a serious hypersensitivity reaction to Tirzepatide or any of the product components.
